Sivasagar: A notorious honey trap racket has been busted by the Sivasagar police on May 4 and two persons who are connected with the incident have been arrested.

According to reports, the individuals who were accused had been apprehended allegedly on charges of luring a businessman and later blackmailing him for money.

The accused had been identified as Dipankar Das and Joydeep Das and the duo had earlier siphoned off Rs 4 lakh from the businessman.

The duo demanded money from the businessmen yet again but their attempt did not succeed this time around as the businessman filed a complaint with the police, after which they were arrested.

The police informed them that the mastermind of the racket is still absconding and raids are being carried out in Dergaon to capture him.

Several other individuals including a woman, who is involved in the racket, have reportedly vanished in thin air after they got to know about the police raids.

The police have said that some of them have been identified as Ashik, Sabina Begum Saiful Ali, Diganta Das and Rubul Ali.

Further investigation is underway.

Earlier, an Assam-based model reportedly honey-trapped a man in Guwahati and plundered roughly Rs 8.90 lakh with a car.

Pranjal Deka had been recognised as the victim. Both of them had been dating for the last one and a half years, but their relationship began to deteriorate once a third person invaded her life.

As a result, the individual was taken to the police station, where he apparently disclosed all proof of their previous connection, including monetary transactions he made in the bank account of his ex-girlfriend.

"I did a lot for her because I loved her." I also aided her financially by taking out a loan on the vehicle I had recently purchased for her. To assist her financially, I sold my favourite guitar. "I've given the Geetanagar officer in charge all the proof of the financial transactions I made in her bank account over the last one and a half years," Pranjal stated.
